Unless you have been living under a rock for the last 6 month, you have for sure heard about ChatGPT. What is it and why all the Hype?
What is ChatGPT?
ChatGPT is an advanced language model developed by OpenAI. You can ask it about almost anything and it will answer, with the result that it finds most relevant and correct. Just like with a Search Engine, you can type a question and get an instant result. The main different is, that a search engine comes up with a list of websites it finds relevant for your question. Then you have to read an article, blog or websites to finds the answer. ChatGPT does only come up with one result and it is presented directly to you inside the chat. If you don’t think the answer is good enough, you can click on the button “Regenerate Response”. This will will present you with another explanation on the result.
How does it work?
It is actually quite simple. You ask in a chat about whatever you want to know, and the get an instant answer. It is a little like Google. However, instead of a bounce of URL you will have to visit and read yourself, you will get the best, most accurate answer right in the chat. If you give ChatGPT a task, it will try to come up with a solution right in the chat. Look what happened, when I was asking for a PowerShell command to find my computers serial number. Not just, did it give me the command. It gave me an exact command line that I can copy to my PowerShell and execute.
Can ChatGPT predict the future?
No, ChatGPT is based on a pattern of information from its training data, which only extends up until September 2021. If you ask about something that is beyond that date you will get an answer that it has no information for you.
Is ChatGPT free to use?
Yes, and no. You can sign up for free to start using ChatGPT (GPT-3.5). It is very simple. All you have to do, is to create an free account to get started. You could also sign up for a ChatGPT Plus (GPT-4) subscription for $20/month. You can read more about the Plus subscription here.

How this post was written
In order to write this post, I used ChatGPT. I have asked questions, to see what the OpenAI could help me with. That was actually a lot. I asked it to help me find me a PowerShell command. I asked about what ChatGPT is. Finally, I asked for a good title for this blog. I wanted a good tittle, optimized for SEO, for this post and it can help with this as well.
